Nom has led Young People’s Empowerment, Walking and Wellbeing programmes and our ChinChin and Chaat programming group. Nompumelelo is a Freelance Creative producer and has worked extensively for a range of organisations including ‘We Don't Settle’, who empower young People of Colour from Birmingham and the Black Country to change the voice of heritage through the arts, research, and governance. Nom facilitated the curator programme for several years.

Nompumelelo Ncube (Nom) is a photojournalist passionate about the social mobility and visibility of marginalised communities in media, visual arts and the heritage sector. Her specialism is in representation. She investigates the correlation between representation and self-image, her research and photographic work explore identity, culture and dress. She aims to marry academic discourse in the politics of representation with storytelling. She is passionate about coproduction and collaborative methodologies in storytelling. Her interests also lie in public history and how the past is communicated in the present to inform, celebrate and archive lived experiences from marginalised communities. Nom Ncube is a graduate of Royal Holloway’s MA in Public History programme; a visual artist and creative producer, Nom’s practice is informed by her academic background in public history and photojournalism.
Nompumelelo is the founder of Mabuza, a photography studio rooted in public history. Named after her family totem meaning ‘The Ones Who Ask.' it is the meeting of art and history, a studio that tells stories of who we are, who we were, where we come from and why we are here.
Nompumelelo is a proud member of Black Women Photographers International and Royal Holloway University of London Scholar. She holds an MA (Distinction) in Public History and a BA (First Class) in Photojournalism.
